Despite recent economic headlines and forecasts, tall buildings have enjoyed a largely sustained period of global growth since the turn of the Century. Not only are they being built in greater numbers but they are breaking height records, in new geographical markets and are developing the typology.
Many of the challenges faced in the development and construction of a tall building, such as finding innovative responses to sustainability, optimisation of floor plates, the cost and value implications of alternative methodologies, or the value in going taller, are the subjects of our research for clients, industry bodies and external publications. This knowledge base allows us to better inform clients, better engage with other consultants, and be active contributors to projects.
The twin challenges of recession and climate change are rightly sharpening the focus on the fundamentals that underpin tall building economics, and our latest work strives to create a more cost effective and truly sustainable commercial tower
